About Me

Love everything to do with making my OWN _______ (basically just fill in the blank!) I should have been a man from the 1800's/early 1900's but I'm all woman! The reason I say that is because it was very typical for men to learn trades passed down from their families while the women tended to the house. I'm not being sexist - it just the way it was! Unfortunately my father passed way to young for me to learn about woodworking and my brother lives to far away. My grandfather, who was an absolute genius and a physics phenomenon without the education to back him up knew how to do EVERYTHING I've ever wanted to do. Again, he passed when I was only 11 so that didn't work out either. But my grandfather, father, brother, one of my sister's and myself all think in mechanical terms. We think through solutions in our minds before ever putting something to paper. The gears, pulleys, etc. are planned out mentally. This leaves me, unfortunately, with the dilemma on how to start actually creating and selling some of these ideas I have. I'm way better at this type of thing than anything else. I create inventions, build houses, furniture, handbags, etc. in my head on a nightly basis. This is my passion in its truest form! And it's what keeps me up at night. Unfortunately many men are fearful of taking on a female as an apprentice. I must have approached 20 different people with an immediate "no". Now I'm in a fragile position because my back is badly hurt so I want to turn to sewing, which I can do on and off as I able. I have a degree from one of the top business schools in the U.S. in International Business and Finance that I earned during and after raising my 6 children and also was half owner of a business with 150 employees, earning a gross income of over 3 billion dollars but apparently I was not smart when physically capable to apprentice - for free, mind you - for someone. I have a lot to offer and one day I'm hoping my back situation will be resolved. All I'm asking is, folks, speak with people in person or over the phone these days. You can tell a lot by the way a person is able to hold their own during a conversation. Btw, I'm also fluent in Spanish. So much so that 9 out of 10 native speakers ask me where I'm from. When I say the U.S., the follow up is always the same. "I mean originally". When I learn, I like to learn from the absolute basics to the most advanced. And I'm just looking for a bit of a leg up on something I'm very passionate about. I've already seen on here how much people respect others and I'm truly grateful to now be a part of it. Thank you already for answers to my questions and I look forward to learning from you all!

Warm regards.

Doreen
