  1. Hey thanks for the posting tip. By the way love your photo..too cute.
  2. Hi Shelly, Thanks for introducing yourself. Wow sounds like you have all the bases covered in the horse gear corner. Do you have a shop or store that you work out of? Or do you just do it at home? I'd love to make the drive and see some of your work. Smiles, Terri
  3. Hello everyone, I just joined last night. I had been braiding for several years until my horse died and I lost interest for awhile. I have gotten the braiding Bug all over again and plan to start again, thankfully I didn't sell all my braiding paraphanalia and other than rawhide I don't need to buy anything. I was just wondering how many braiders are here in Texas ? I'm in the DFW area. I tried to attach some photos but it tells me the file is too big. What is the best type format to attache photos on this site. Thanks a bunch.
  4. Hello, No I no longer have the cutter....it sold. Thamk you.
  5. Hello All, I wish I could commit to helping teach a class but I am about to start Nursing school myself and have to devote my time to studying for that. If you do get a class together I would like to know about it and the schedule. If I had a better Idea of when and where and for how long I would be better able to make a commitment. Now I am a self-taught braider that learned pretty much by reading the books. It's been a few years since I even picked up something to braid. I'm sure I would be able to help the real beginners get started and I have some experience in making my own string. I am by no means an expert, but I am willing to share what I know with others. Keep me informed. Rwhidelady.
  6. Hello, No classes here in Texas, that was a problem for me when I started out over 15 years ago. I just got every book, video, and/or instructions I could get my hands on. I learned the hard way through my mistakes, but it is doable. I don't braid anymore right now. Lost my horses and the desire or need to braid tack. But I'd be happy to let you pick my brain about braiding. Smiles, Terri S.
  7. Weird I'm pretty sure it was a bitmap picture. Sorry I don't know much about computers. If I could figure out how to post smaller size versions of my photos I would post some better ones. Anyone else know what to do ??? terri
  8. No I was in OKmogee OK learning to braid a reata.'Sorry I missed Nate braiding, bet it was good.Terri Thank you, it was the only picture I could get to upload due to file size. If anyone can help me with that I will post some fully braided stuff.Regards,Terri
  9. Sounds good to me!You know when I was braiding it was hard to find anyone to show me what to do when I started out. I learned everything from books and a few videos. Hard to get a "feel" for what good rawhide is suppose to feel like. Finally found someone online who was willing to look at my work so I mailed it to him (Nevada) and he sent me back a video letter critiquing my work. Told me where to purchase my rawhide (I was using Tandy's) and that made all the difference in the world in my braiding.I'm happy to return the favor to someone else and pass it on down the road. Who knows, maybe it'll renew my interest in braiding again.
  10. Well I'm no expert myself, just made some basic reins, headstalls and hobbles. I attended a braiding seminar in Oklahoma one year and I had a mentor online for several years. I don't give out reserve amounts, not fair for some to have the info and not others. I will tell you a new one is running about $445 and mine is well below half that amount if it only reaches it's reserve. Good Luck! Bridle2_1.bmp Bridle2_1.bmp
  11. Hi Everyone, I'm new to the forum, got here by accident. I live in Denton Texas and used to braid for many years making my own rawhide tack. I haven't braided in several years but I would be happy to talk to anyone about braiding, or look at your work to see if I can help you out any. I'm sure we could figure out any issues together. Let me know if anyone is interested.
  12. I have a used Hansen String Cutter up for auction on eBay if anyone is interested.
  13. I have one for sale on ebay right now. Check it out.
  14. I have a 1993 Hansen String Cutter for sale on eBay. It's a great tool for cutting leather and rawhide into strings to make braided horse tack. Thanks.
