Hi!

My name is Deb, and I am a new leather crafter.

I am a maker of handbags who got into leather work out of necessity.

I adopted a big Labrador mix dog that turned out to have no trouble at all pulling me down the street. I've been walking dogs since I could walk and talk and have never before come across a Lab this strong!

One day, we were walking and although he was on an appropriate leash for dogs his size, he pulled..and I felt that lead I had on him, stretch and almost snap. That was not going to do and I was not having it.

I didn't find the answer to my dilemma in the pet supply store, the hunting & fishing supply store, or the tack shop.

It was in the leather supply shop specializing in SCA & re-enactment work, where the owner finally heard me out, worked with me, and 30 minutes later, with his help, I walked out with a 1.25" wide gun holster belt weight leather leash. (Literally he took a belt blank and helped me make a leash out of it.)

Half an hour after that, I had that leash on my dog and we promptly went for the best walk ever. He pulled. Once.

Because that leather was so strong, dog actually got a solid enough leash correction to get it through his head that this pulling business was no good.

I was thrilled and naturally told everyone I knew. Next thing I know people were asking me to make leashes, harnesses and collars for their dogs.

I make canvas & soft leather bags anyway.

So I elected to punt, make some investments, do some learning, and here I am.

It is so good to meet you, and I hope to learn all I can. I'm kind of a rank newbie with lots of questions. But my heart is in the right place.
	Deb
