Hello everyone. I have a question that I can't seem to find an answer too on online. It may be that the answer is so obvious that it is staring me in the face but here goes. When you are stitching something that is tubular like an arrow case or a quiver, and you want to add straps around it, or something like decorative ends, how do you cut the outer leather to allow for the extra circumference required? I use pricking irons to mark out my stitch line, should I put a stitch line on the bottom leather and then overlay the straps with a matching stitching pattern. If I stitch an outer leather to the core of the quiver surely it won't be long enough when it comes to assembling the quiver ? Or do I make my "tube" first and then attempt to stitch a strap to it? I hope Im sort of making sense to someone it seems more difficult to explain than it should be. I'm sorry but I'm not sure I understand. Do you mean, Don't use a swivel knife?

Hello I'm after some help. Carving and tooling leather terrifies me. Every time I try, it just doesn't go right. Deciding to practice I did a flower on a holster. If you look at the picture I've uploaded you can see my attempts at bevelling. I seem to have a small line of unfinished leather in all of the lines realise that this isn't good But I don't know what has gone wrong to produce this fault and can't for the life of me find anything similar online. Can anyone tell me what I did wrong? Is my cut too shallow or too deep, is my knife not straight or too blunt? Is it my tooling? I really am stumped any help or advice is truly welcome. Thanks in advance.
