My first post. Thanks to everyone who's contributed to this amazing forum!

I have the chance to buy a Champion 50 that appears to be in good shape, and I have a few questions?

    1. The presser foot / groove tool holder is broken. Are those still available?

    2. The work support plate appears to be designed for outsole stitching - which is what I want to use it for - but I'm wondering if the machine will accept a different support that lets you stitch farther from the edge, for other kinds of work?

    3. Can this be run at a slow speed, like 100 spm? I assume that's just an issue with the motor/pulley setup?

    4. What's the electrical box for? The machine doesn't have a visible motor, but I see a length of BX (electrical cable) that runs from the rheostat up to the head. What's with that?

    5. The stitch length is set for ~7-10 spi. What's the maximum length (minimum spi) this machine will sew?

    6. I understand Bob Kovar carries awls and curved needles and maybe other parts? And proleptic has a good manual?

On the one hand, it looks like a great machine and the price is fair. On the other hand, even if I owned a boat, I wouldn't buy this for an anchor.

    Thanks for any thoughts.....!

How has the machine worked so far?

  2. I was wondering if anyone owns a Champion Universal Outsole Stitcher. I recently bought one off of eBay for $40. Yes, $40. I got lucky on that one. Sadly, it doesn't have its motor but I can attach one.  Anyways, I wanted to know a few specs about it and how to use it.

First, does anyone know the dimensions of the machine? Like the width, length, and height? As well as the weight of the machine? I want to get it delivered to my workshop but I need the dimensions and weight in order to get a price quote for delivery. I would greatly appreciate the help.

Second, this is the first time I'm going to use a machine like this. I bought it for personal use in shoe repair. Does anyone know how to thread and operate one? Your responses would be appreciated.

Attached are the images from the eBay post of the machine.
