About Me

Interested in a range of crafts when I have time and strength. Saw a Singer 201k one day and realised that’s what I learned to sew on, and wanted to find one just to feel the muscle memory again.  Oh the delight of it!  I’ve now got over a dozen of the black princesses, including 15, 66, 201, 99 and 185, drawn by gorgeous Tiffany/gingerbread decals, using industrial treadle irons for domestic heads (to achieve a central needle position), a few extras to practice on, spares to send to Africa ( a good cause), small machines to weight lift to class etc, and forever hoping to find a machine that doesn’t stink in its box!

Then the other day I saw this handsome Singer 16k33 in a beautiful table, I think called a tailor’s top, which my husband encouraged me to get. What to do?

Very happy to have found you guys, who seem so knowledgeable about your machines as well as your craft. I’m  grateful to have read your posts. I hadn’t realised I’ve got a machine capable of sewing leather, but what an opportunity!  I thought rather that wide base plate would be perfect for quilting bulky quilts.

I won’t get to retire, as my dear old Mum needs me, as do my 4 grandchildren, but I guess life will change when my hubby retires in a few years, God willing. We sit and have “table time” together, him making wooden clocks and planning to build a kit car, and me sewing or polishing bits of sewing machine, safe in the knowledge that his hobbies still take up more space and cash than mine!

I’m not sure that I can contribute much except gratitude here, but I hope you’ll allow me to sit in the corner and listen.

Thank you
