  1. I feel so stupid!! I am ashamed to admit that at some point I had convinced myself that I should be turning the driving wheel at the front of the machine in an anti-clockwise direction. This is wrong! When I watched Cliff refurbishing a 29k15 I realised I was turning the wheel the wrong way. I'm turning the wheel correctly now and the shuttle timing is close to correct and I'm now just fine tuning it with the eccentric stud. I think I may need to refurb the top tension assembly as it is struggling to give enough tension but I feel like I'm close to having a working machine. I share my foolishness just as an example that sometimes you think something needs a lot of adjusting and dismantling but you just need to check how you're operating it!
  2. Please can I ask advice as I’ve recently bought a Singer 29K58 leather patcher and I’m having trouble getting the shuttle carrier in sync with the needle? I’ve checked and the gear configuration is correct for the rack box under the shuttle. I also believe the rear cam (needle bar cam) is in the correct orientation. From what I can tell, it’s the same way round as in other people’s photos and in the current orientation the needle is in sync with the walking foot. The adjustment on the eccentric stud which connects the shuttle driving lever to the connecting rod is insufficient to correct the position of the shuttle carrier. I’m thinking that I need to adjust the position of the shuttle driving cam and I’m wondering if that is 180° out. Before I start dismantling my machine I wanted to ask for advice please.
