I started my woodworking life in Maine, 35 years ago, as a wooden boatbuilding apprentice. Since then I've worked on just about everything made of wood--barns, boats, cars, furniture, houses, furniture. I spent a great deal of time between the last two depressions restoring old windows; they're the greenest windows out there! I've hand stitched repairs in a lot of old sails while I worked on tall ships and I used to sew canvas ditty bags with leather bottoms for kicks. I just bought six Singer 400 series slant-o-matics and have been taking them apart, cleaning them, and putting them back together like new!  I haven't purchased an industrial machine yet.
