I already air brush my dye's and I prefer applying dye's this way because it is consistent over the entire piece of leather. Do you thin the Resolene down and if so, what do you use to thin it with.

I need to apply Resolene to a large area of leather to seal it. It is for a lining on a western gun rig I am making. I have always used sheep skin and have cut the hair down to a lower level. Has anyone used something else to apply the Resolene. I am having problems getting sheep skin scraps for doing this. I am afraid a spong might scratch the leather and daubs are too small.

Thanks for the information. I also want to do a black crow feather, but they have a blue/green iridescence. I am having problems coming up with this color. I plan on laying a black dye down first then applying a coat of Dragonfly violet-blue-green color changing paint. Tried a test strip, but to much. Will watering down to thin it out also work, or does someone have a better idea to get the iridescence i am looking for.

Is there a "dye" in the color white that will work well on leather? I am working on making some leather feathers. I do have white/neutral Angelus acrylic leather paint, but the stain appears to leave a nicer/cleaner finish. Shenandoah

Thanks for the information. As soon as read your post, I immediately said you are right. Went straight to my piece and put Black Pro Dye on the edge. Will hit it with a sealer tomorrow. One part down, three pieces to go. Waiting on a new set of Jeremiah Watt spurs for a final fitting before I finish things up. These spur straps are for myself and so far they are looking pretty nice. again thanks for your comment. Shenandoah

No it is a thick black (dye?) used on the edge of a leather project to give it a nice finish. I am worried about it chipping and whether I can seal it with Rosolene or if I do use it, do I just leave the finish on it alone. I have worked on leather for three years now and have never used it. I do cowboy action shooting and have made gun rigs and other items geared towards the sport. I

I am thinking about using Edge Kote on a set of spur straps I am making. Not sure whether to trust using it or just use black Fiebing dye so I can seal it. Any suggestions.

I have Fiebing's leather balm, but was afraid to use it. I have never used it before. I am still using Tan-Kote even though I know it is not the best product to use. I also have Resolene, but as before am afraid to use it. I quess my skills need to be expanded for a better finish. Do you think that the leather balm would help seal the black over the Aussie Wax.

I used Tandy Black Pro Dye and sealed it with Aussie Wax. Still have some rub off. Can I seal the dye after already applying the Aussie Wax.
