About Me

My name is Mike and I am considered by many to be a Jack of all Trades. I am a Facilities manager of a large ten acre facility  for 28 years which means I have to be able to have a handle on most trades.

I was trained in landscape construction in my early work years, not the mow blow and go type, but rather the cement, irrigation, plumbing, patio installation type training. I am a journeyman roofer, and an x-ray certified welder in Stick MIG and TIG. I am a welding instructor at a local community college in San Diego for the last 16 years. I know my way around large electrical circuitry, and I can plumb a house to code. I am a sculptor and have had the privilege of having my work displayed on the city streets of San Diego and in local businesses. I work in all types of media and have even joined a nationally recognized team of sand sculptors. I am a baker and cake builder, where a four day build is not uncommon. I build classic cars ranging from the 1920's to the 1970's, complete frame off restorations and customizations. I have been a rock climber  for 30 years who has scaled many walls in Yosemite and other popular or not so popular cliffs. I am an avid photographer who spends way too much on equipment. I got into photography to feel confident taking photos while rock climbing and it has morphed into most aspects of my life.

I have been able to sew ever since my mom taught me and my sisters when we were young. I have a small baby lock machine for home use but now I wish to graduate into the industrial sewing arena. This is how I found this site. I was searching for beta on my newly acquired Durkopp Adler 204-64 machine. I am hoping to learn from the members here and their wealth of knowledge.

Cheers!
