Thanks for the help. I was hoping to not have to spend a lot of $$$ and hoping this would do the trick. Ohh well the hunt for a machine has begun.

I have a small leather holster company and make custom leather holsters and have been stitching everything by hand. I have been getting pretty back logged and am thinking a machine may help speed things up a bit. My mom has a Signer 99 treddle machine that used to be her Grandmas that she wants to get rid of. If I added a motor to this machine would it be able to go through two layers of 5-7 oz leather. I have no idea where to start with this and have no experience with sewing machines. My wife is a very accomplished sewer and could help me but I dont want to take the machine if it wouldn't work. Thanks in advance. Dave

I use 5/6 oz. for all my holsters. And have had zero problems with it not being stiff enough

Cuban. I would recomend getting more needles, they tend to bend and break alot when you hand stich. Also I dont use an acual boneing tool. You can usally find something laying around the house (sharpie, kitchen knife, back of your free hand groover) that will work just as good or better. And I would just go to your local hardware or walmart and get contact cement. Same stuff usally just cheaper. Also i didnt notice anything on your list to seal the holster when done. I highly recomend resolene but everyone is different. Good luck and have fun

I use the 6spi on my hand stiched holsters. I think if I had to do over though I would have gotten the 5spi.
