Strap cutters
Nathanjespers replied to Nathanjespers's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
That's kinda what I figured. I guess I just needed to hear someone else say it. Thank you for your time. Hope you're having a great whatever part of the day it is where you are. -
To go along with my recent post about gluing straps together, I have one about the cutting of said straps. I have a very puny Hobby Lobby strap cutter, and let's say it's good enough if you don't mind the anxiety, as the tool isn't the highest of quality. So I ask, is there really much difference between the $10 to $20 cutters they have for sale on internet sources versus the cutters like Tandy and Weaver sell $30-$40 range) all the way up to the high price tag cutters?

I'm attempting some double layered straps for the first time. I cut both pieces to the exact same length and glued them. When I went bend them to fasten them the edges got all wavy bacon on me. So I imagine I have to cut one piece longer than the other I'm just not sure what kind of ratio I need in order to determine how much longer. Or maybe I'm missing something else completely. That's why I'm reaching out to you folks. Thanks a lot.

First time using this forum. I have some questions concerning the color variations of natural veg tan. Is there a gradient scale as to the quality of the leather with regards to it's color? Or a rule of thumb even, personal opinion...? For instance, I saw some pieces of veg tan yesterday most where's the average pinkish color and a few of them were very light like a matte eggshell. It didn't look very good but obviously I don't know good or bad. Any help is appreciated. Hope you all are having a good one.
