After 28 years, I'm leaving education. Part of the biggest kick was being creative with students and other educators, channeling my dad's knack for tinkering. Time to get more serious about using the skills I've learned and developing new skills.
Wood has been the favorite medium, but after requests from the kids for leather costuming, I'm finding a lot of freedom there. Pics here show the jewelry hanger one daughter found at Ikea (with our added leather-covered tray). The wood planter was a few hour project after it was found on someone's social media. The briefcase was my most ambitious leather today, with the goal of medieval armor in this next year.
I'm impressed with the longevity of leatherworker.net, seeing some great tips this morning ... posted first in 2007. Looking forward to learning from members, staying about 5 feet or 1.5 meters away from any political conversation and smelling like animal skin.
Peace, y'all.
