I use welts on occasion. But to answer your question…friction.

I have an outlaw and it was my first machine. Used it exclusively for about 2 years. Loved it! I now have a 4500 so it sees most of my work, but will always have the outlaw on hand to use if needed. It’s a great step up from hand stitching!

A few of my recent builds.
Chest rig for a scoped revolver, with Timber Rattlesnake inlay.
Basic strong side holster. Simple, rugged, tough, inexpensive.
Belt, holster, and cartridge holder combo. 2nd pic is of me wearing it, to show the concept behind the design.

I would wait. I doubt it would ruin it, but it will definitely affect it and change the appearance.
