  1. I just got the latest quote. It will be around $500, which is more than I spent on leather for the project. I'm turning it down and plan to just spend several dozen hours cutting leather.
  2. It would cut out the pieces as well as mark a border for me to do more work on. I have all of the files (36 total) for the armor. The breastplate file is the largest, as it's all there. The others are collections of smaller files. This is just a one-off project.
  3. Does anyone know about how much time a laser cutter saves? For example, if cutting an intricate pattern takes 5 hours by hand, about how long would it save to laser cut? I'm really looking for a proportion, like 1/3 of the time. Even a rough estimate would help. My project is a set of leather armor. I have a pattern but it's fairly intricate and would take a while to cut it all out. I have a place that can cut it by laser for me, but it'll cost a couple of hundred dollars. I just want to know if it would be worth it.
  4. Yes I have. I like their patterns, but I need something other than a Viking style. Plus I already bought patterns from Prince Armor Academy.
  5. Hello, everyone! My name is Matthew from Michigan and I'm doing a crash course on armor leatherworking. I'm just getting started and have most of my tools. I simply lack the experience, which should make this interesting. My project is a near complete armor pattern set from Prince Armor Academy, the Imperial Knight. I have the patterns and am currently mocking up the armor to make sure that it will actually fit. I need to have the armor finished by June for a larp event at the end of that month. While it feels like I have plenty of time now, it'll go by quick. So much so that I'm looking at options to have the leather cut on a laser cutter for me. Please let me know if you know of any options in the mid-Michigan area. I'll be on here asking for help on a variety of topics from tooling to putting a metallic touch to the armor.
