Hello, I'm new to Leatherworker forum but am a sewing machine collector and sometime sewer. As a part of my collection I have a Singer 29-4 that I use to sew patches on leather for the members of the veteran's motorcycle group I ride with. Hopefully OK to post the following announcement as I feel that old leather machines definitely fall under the auspices of collectors, restorers, and historians.
Just wanted to let everyone know that I have agreed to take the position of Chair of the International Sewing Machine Collectors Society (ISMACS). We are currently looking through the list of volunteers to try to fill the remaining open positions, after which we will be discussing what needs to be done to move forward and keep the Organization viable and relevant. If you have any thoughts or comments please send me a pm or an email.
As penance for perhaps jumping in inappropriately with non-leather working news I offer this picture of a machine seen recently for sale. It's a Singer Model 79 designed for sewing buckles on straps (apparently). Enjoy.
Thanks.
