  1. Just got home from the show and I was pleased beyond my expectations. First off I ran into a few leather crafting celebrities. Aaron Heizer, of Maker's Leather Supply was there and we had a nice chat. Then I ran into Don Gonzales of DG Saddlery. Chuck Dorsett from Weaver was not there this year - that would have made my hat trick of my most frequently viewed YouTube tutorial providers. I even recognized Chris "Slickbald" Andre from a Springfield Leather video. Turns out he was there teaching classes. I wasn't really expecting to purchase anything but still ended up going over budget. Next year, I'll be saving my money well in advance to take advantage of the price and selections available. I was the proverbial kid in the candy store!
  2. This is the most instructive video I've found so far. Hope it helps someone else, it sure helped me.
  3. Thank you for your feedback. I certainly enjoyed reading your comments and appreciate your candor. The Sales Tax is the first item in my notes at the bottom. Different locations have different rates. That doesn't affect the price comparison at all. Maybe I'm missing something but I've noticed some vendors charge me sales tax while others do not. I have not noticed a pattern to this, nor am I overly interested in finding out why. When I don't get charged any sales tax I just smile to myself.
  4. Here's a new price comparison. Fiebing's Antique Finish. Happy Shopping! Paul 20240415 Antique Finish Comparison.ods
  5. Hey, thanks for your kind words. I'm going to post another one or two comparisons so I hope you find them.
  6. Yes, I was aware of that. Did I make a mistake somewhere? It's certainly possible but I was on alert for it. I'm only interested in the 100% Pure and as I recall the compound is a much lower price. If I did make a mistake in my pricing, please let me know so I can correct it. I appreciate your feedback!
  7. That would certainly be the best price around. When I checked them it looks like they were only offering the 32oz for shipping. So, if you can pop in and grab one locally you're ahead of the game! UPDATE: I didn't notice it was the compound. That's why it wasn't included in my comparison.
  8. I couldn't agree more. I'm g;ad you took a look. I have a couple more comparisons coming...
  9. I don't know if this will be useful for anyone else but I sure hope so. I'm a broke dude so I have to watch my expenditures very closely and this is something I usually do for myself before I buy anything. I'm hoping someone else will find it useful. I'm VERY OPEN to feedback of any sort. 20240407 Neatsfoot Oil Comparison.ods
  10. All of the replies here are very helpful. Like most, I started out buying inexpensive tools, supplies, leather, etc. I've come to see the error of my ways. So I've started doing exactly what y'all have suggested - buy less, but buy better quality. As always, thank you everyone for sharing your knowledge.
