Total novice here looking at a Consew 206RB (no additional numbers). How does this compare to new models? I have sewn garments for years, but want to get into leather; is this a good choice? What age am I looking at with this model and what would be an appropriate price range? Thank you for any information or additional suggestions!

Had a few pieces of equipment in storage hoping to open shop again but we're moving out of state and it's easier to sell than take with. This Consew 206RB is in good shape and ready to sew. Servo motor, led light, comes with table and foot pedal. $950 OBO, located in Dallas, TX Also selling, Cobra NP-4 and Cobra NP-10 skivers, Kwikprint 86 Heat Press and Kwikprint 64 Pneumatic Heat Press

I have a TechSew 1460 and have been having an issue with the walking foot where it gets stuck in various raised positions, despite not having the knee pedal or hand lifter engaged. I can’t find any YouTube videos on the issue. I’ll either jiggle the foot pedal, turn the hand crank/motor pulley, or start sewing and it’ll SLAM down. Help! see video for demo: https://youtube.com/shorts/wbpGA8ZNGpU?feature=share

Hi! I have a Seiko compound feed (STH-8BLD-3). I’ve been using it for about one year making backpacks (not leather). The problem - At low speed, the machine intermittently makes a low pitched rattle/groan. I cannot hear the sound when I turn the machine by hand (with or without the belt on the pulley). The sound goes away as soon as I speed the machine up. Here is a short video with sound. https://imgur.com/a/XNju9LX The sound really comes through in the video. It’s not quite that bad in person, but it’s bad enough that I don’t want to use the machine until I fix it. Background - I tuned it when I got it and lubricate it regularly. I don’t recall when it started making this sound. Maybe it happened gradually. I lubed it the first time I heard it, and it didn’t help. I’ve now removed all the covers, checked everything for loose parts, removed the hand wheel and remounted it, removed the needle position sensor, etc. I swapped the servo motor with another machine and replaced the belt. Nothing helped. The machine still sews very well. It seems like the sound is coming from the middle of the machine, in the enclosed area to the left of the upper oil reservoir. But it is hard to know. I tried a mechanics stethoscope, but the noise is so loud that I can’t pinpoint anything. There are no sewing machine mechanics in my area except one shop with a really long waitlist, so I learned to fix all of my machines. But I’ve spent a couple nights on this and I’m stumped. I’d really appreciate any suggestions. Thank you! Phil

Favor to ask - tension assembly measurent on 206RB
rlevine posted a topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I'm replacing a tension assembly on a Tacsew T206RB, and the (admittedly cheap) replacement I got on Ebay seems to have some differences from the one I'm replacing. Notably, the upper screw hole is in the wrong place. If anyone has a Consew 206RB or a newer machine, and a caliper, and feels up to it, would you be willing to measure the distance between the edge of the upper screw hole and the thread controller hole on the back of the tension plate? See the attached pic for a better description. The replacement I bought is about 1mm shorter, seems very cheaply made, and has several other differences that make me wonder whether I got a bad part, or if my clone is just gratuitously different. (So far, I haven't found other incompatibility issues , but that might be because I haven't tripped over them yet.) I could bodge the assembly a bit to get it to work, but it seems a shame to start with an ugly part for a renovation if there are better ones available. Thanks! Rick -
Does anyone have any suggestions for slowing down a Consew machine. I have reduced the size of the drive pulley as small as is possible. when sewing, the machine seems to lack torque to start, so you require lots of pedal, but then the piece takes off. Once you're sewing it is easy to throttle the machine back to a creep with delicate manipulation of the foot pedal. does anyone make a larger handwheel for these machines. I know sailrite makes one for their machine. It occurred to me to machine a 2 part pulley/disc/donutish sorta thing that could be bolted onto the existing handwheel, but I don't want to reinvent...the wheel!!!! Thanks, brent

When I am top stitching a canvas bag on my Consew 206 RB-3, and go from 4 layers of 18oz waxed canvas down to 2 layers, I get 1 or 2 normal stitches, then my stitch length goes from 8 stitch per inch to 18-20. It's getting hung up somehow and I've tried so many things at this point, I am ready for a fresh start. I welcome any opinions as to how I can resolve this. I have several other 206's that appear to be similarly set up and they do not have this problem. Thanks! ---Chris

I am green as they come when it come to leather. I have been working with canvas and vinyl on my home machine (Pfaff 130) and that has been adequate as long as the piece isn’t too big and the thread isn’t too thick. I have been looking at getting a compound feed machine for a little while and would like to keep it with in a reasonable budget for myself, around $1000. I have come across a consew 255 RB -2 that appears to be in great condition. It comes with a table and a clutch motor for an asking price of $950. I can also get a Chandler 406 brand new, sewn off with a table and motor delivered for just under $1000. My biggest questions are, is the 255RB-2 worth anything near $950, I cannot find much out there to compare. Also, I have read that the max stitch length is 6mm ( 4spi) and 10 mm (2.5 spi). Are there two different versions of the 255RB that would have different max stich lengths? Is the Chander 406 any good? The Consew 206 is a few hundred more and on the outside they are the same machine. What is the advantage of the Consew? From what I understand they are both made in China now. Any and all advise would be greatly appreciated! Kyle

I have access to buying a Consew 206rb-3 for $700. However, when I went to test it, the bottom thread got tangled due to not holding on the the threads properly. While I was there we cleaned out the bobbin and hook, and tried again. This time the botom thread would not thread. I left, and the owner said he would look into it. Since then, I've learned there is a safety clutch on the hook. Could this cause the bottom thread to not engage? Also, he said i could buy as is for $650. Are these machines easy to service for these problems? Would $650 be woth the unknown risks? What could the cost be to get a machine like this into working condition? Thanks for your help.

Hello sewing machine experts! I have a question. Are roller feet available for my 206 style machine or my consew 223. I am talking about the nickle size knurled wheels which press to the left of the needle. I am interested in trying them for purposes of increased visibility/precision while making shoes and boots.

I have a small budget for a leather sewing machine. I hope to be able to make some bags and use the money to save for a really nice leather sewing machine. BUT until then i am wondering if this Consew CP206r will sufice until the day comes i can purchase a better machine. I am intrested in sewing leather wallets, phone covers, purses.
