Hello from Norway

Recommended Posts

Hi guys. I have been a member for a couple of years, but so far I have just been learning from your posts! I collect antique and vintage sewing machines, but I also have some classic mechanical machines from up to about 1950s-1960s, like Pfaff and Bernina. I have always wanted to make some items in leather, so I have been watching out for machines suitable for that. I have some interesting machines from a collectors viewpoint, that I know also can  serve me good for practical use. Two treadle patchers, an old Patent Elastik from Claes & Flentje, and a Singer 29K58. An old left hand Singer 18-3 cylinder machine with wheel feed and a roller foot, and a Singer 45K25 cylinder machine for all heavy leather work. For lighter leather work, vinyl or other plastic; a Singer 31K15 ordinary drop feed machine with a roller foot for leather, and a Naumann 65 for zig-zag work. I also have Singer 103, Naumann 225-2, and some other industrial machines, but although they can sew light to medium leather in a pinch, they are not set up for that. Many of my vintage domestic machines, like the Singer 27/28, 15 and 201K, have all been used for light leather work up through the times, but they are mainly intended for sewing cloth. The 45K25 have used a Singer motor that is not working anymore, so I'll set it up with a 3-speed german Kobold motor. I have a couple of those motors. In low gear, they run at a quite low speed, so I may set up one for the 29K58 as well.

The restoration work on the machines is not finished yet. I'll come back with more info and pictures, as the work area that I have wanted for a loong time finally becomes a reality.  :)
