RaggedMountainMan Report post Posted March 17, 2023 Anyone know of a bench top splitter that wont break the bank? I have a bunch or 8" wide 8-9 oz pieces that I need to cut down to about 2-3 or 4-5 oz.
Burkhardt Report post Posted March 18, 2023 It would be cheaper to buy whole sides in the oz. you want then getting a splitter to do anything that wide. You'll be in hundreds just for one that will do belt widths.

Best I've seen is a Weaver that will cut 5" wide and its $300. Might pull the trigger on that one and cut my strips to 5 and 3 inch wide. Then I'm pretty much stuck making all wallets with it. Thanks for the reply.
bruce johnson Report post Posted March 18, 2023 You will have trouble pulling wallet parts through a pull splitter without stretching and deforming out of shape. Most people can pull a three inch stirrup leather to level it but that’s about is. The wider blades just get more places to work before stropping or resharpening

Thats been a question in the back of my mind since all I see are belts being pulled thru a hand puller no matter how wide the blade is. Probably will just order a couple square ft of 2-3 and 4-5 oz. Trying to figure out what do do with these 8-9 oz 6 inch wide strips I have. Edited March 20, 2023 by RaggedMountainMan
