Daniel Report post Posted November 25, 2007 Blessings, I have been browsing this fourm for about a week. This has got to be the best fourm for leather I have found. Lots of people here willing to help and share their hard earned knowledge to make it easier for all to enjoy leathercraft and stick with it. Thanks is advance, I hope my contributions will be as useful as the ones I have read here. I have been working leather off and on for about 40 years. I was once a member of the Lone Star Leathercraft Guild serveral years ago before they moved off to FT. Worth, just to far to drive after that. I first learned leathecraft in junior high school in shop class. They were the only projects that I made in shop class that did not fall apart in a few days. So I stuck with it. I make the common small projects, belts, wallets etc., so I have not done anything unusual. I have decided to sell some of my work part time for some extra cash and maybe a part time or full time job later on. I love to work leather so this is a joy for me to do. Maybe I can come up with something unusual to sell, something unique. We'll see. I will make something to show in the next two weeks. You have given me alot of inspiration the past week with the many beautiful projects that you have shared on this fourm. I will be posting a question about the Boss sewing machine in the proper place, I have decided to purchase one. Thanks. Daniel

unicornwoman Report post Posted November 25, 2007 Welcome! As for Lone Star Leather Crafters, you can still be a member and get those benefits without attending every meeting. With my current responsibilities and energy level, it has been a long time since I've actually been to a meeting. In fact, I think the only thing I managed to do in the last year with them was take one of the workshops at Federation.
Mike Report post Posted November 25, 2007 Unicorn woman is right. I belong to Lone Star and cannot attend meetings. I used to when I used to work in the area but that's been a few years ago. Dallas used to have a guild that met at the old Northwest Hwy store. That guild is gone. If their is a new guild at the new TLF store, let us know. Daniel Report post Posted November 25, 2007 Thanks Don101, unicornwoman and Mike for the welcome and information. I will look into the Lone Star Guild membership again and more than likely join the quild if their is no quild in Dallas. Thanks. Daniel
freak Report post Posted November 26, 2007 I meet a guy at the IFoLG show last month and he told me they meet there. I haven't checked it out yet but i've been meaning to. Let us know what you discover. I'm out here fairly close to Mike, i'm in Royse City. I think there's a hand full of us out here, not sure where you are. I've a got a good size shop out back maybe i should clean it out and we can start the first LWN (LeatherWorkers.Net) guild.
