VStew Report post Posted November 25, 2023 I made a gun sling and put a coat of leather balm with atom wax on it, but after thinking about it, I thought it would need to be waterproof or at least repellent. Am I still able to add a coat of resolene or Leather Honey on top of the leather balm?
chuck123wapati Report post Posted November 25, 2023 for outdoor gear treat just like a brand new pair of 200 dollar leather boots. I use snow seal or feibings golden mink oil. mainly because thats what i can buy here but any good boot waterproofing is my choice. I just made two m1907 slings and they spent almost a month in the boonies with no problems.
VStew Report post Posted November 26, 2023 Thank you Chuck123wapati! So it’s okay to top coat over the wax?
TomE Report post Posted November 26, 2023 (edited) Fiebings Saddle Oil is another product that I use for work boots. Sold at farm stores. Has silicon oils like Fiebings Golden Mink Oil. I think that is a waterproofing ingredient. Saddle Oil will darken the leather somewhat. I suspect it will soak in even with the Atom Wax applied, but if not the Atom Wax will wear off with a bit of use.
