gringobill Report post Posted November 29, 2007 Can someone tell me the trick to replacing the copper anvil in an Osborne spring punch? Namely is there some trick to removing the old one? I tried to knock the old one out with a pin punch with no luck. I hammered on it pretty hard and it did not budge. I also tried heating up that end of the punch some thinking it might break loose, again no luck. I was nervous about getting the steel too hot so I backed off that idea. I guess my next try, unless someone knows some trick, is to carefully drill the old one out. Thanks
craftsman827 Report post Posted December 4, 2007 The last time I replaced mine, I drilled it out. Starting with a small bit , until it loosens. Than you can tap it out.

HideShop Report post Posted February 28, 2010 I found the real trick is trying to get the new anvils in. I contacted Osborne for help and they ask me to send them the rotary punchs I was working on and they would replace them for me but when all was said and done they sent them back with new anvils for me to install myself. Mine came out alright by punching them out but would presume you could drill them out as suggested also.
