Leather Necklace

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to get a replacement for the leather necklace I've been wearing for over 15 years, or roughly half my life. You can see the wear and tear, I'm looking for something similar but more durable. This necklace means a lot to me and I feel naked without it.

I saw this on etsy and it's extremely close to what I want.

Issues and other observations:

1. He only does braided leather. I do not want braided because I'm worried it'll get gunky in the braids, especially since I work outdoors. I almost never take the necklace off and yes, I shower with it. I've even gone into the ocean with it. I haven't had problems with water while wearing mine, and I've been wearing it a very long time.

2. The designs on the metal connecting bits that he has available don't quite appeal to me (besides the one I linked all the others are various animal heads) but it's the closet I've found to what I'm looking for short of just ordering a direct replacement, which I'm not keen on.

3. I do really like that it eliminates the need for the lobster claw clasp in the back. Seems like it'll be more secure than the flimsy ring I have now too. I'm always very worried I'm going to lose part or all of my necklace.
