TrueGoon Report post Posted September 8 Can anyone identify what these two pieces of hardware are called? One is a pin that uses a lock to secure a collar/belt/strap. The other is a plate with two spikes and embeds into the leather. I am brand new to leatherwork. The pictures come from reddit user u/warm_vanilla_sugar. TomE Report post Posted September 8 The plate with spikes is a loop staple. Weaver sells them https://www.weaverleathersupply.com/products/15s4-loop-staples and Beiler's Manufacturing has smaller quantities. You can also sew the loop. Sewing and blocking a loop is a higher level of finish in my opinion.
fredk Report post Posted September 8 The other is the padlock post from some thing like a 'Padlock stud + plate - to secure bag flaps etc.' Le Prevo sells them; 3rd up from the bottom on this page https://www.leprevo.co.uk/otherfittings.htm

I agree that sewing the loops will look better, I may try this. Thank you both for your help. Edited September 8 by TrueGoon
