question about the oil we put on leather

I have a question about the oil we put on leather and when and how we apply it. When I make a set of spur straps I do the following:

1. Oil the straps and wait about 24 hours and buff up )neetsfoot oil)

2. Apply block out to certain areas wait for it to dry up

3. Apply a 2ed coat of block out to the same areas wait to dry

4. Do my back ground dieing

5. Apply either highlighter or antique stain and wait it to dry and buff up

6. Apply either satin sheen or super sheen

7. Buff up and I am done..

This is what I do, but I don’t know it I am doing it in the right order or there is a better way to do it

I've seen your work- it's great and seem to work for you.

Why are you applying a blocker after the oil and before the dye job? Why not oil, then dye and THEN apply the blocker before the antique???

Pete, You are right I should Oil, dye and apply blocker in that order as it would also let the leather rest and bring it back to life.. Thanks Larry
