Hey y’all. I recently bought a singer 31-15 to stitch boot tops. The problem is the hook doesn’t seem to be catching the needle thread most of the time. I’m not sure if this is a timing issue because it looks pretty close to timed up from the resources I’ve seen. After taking it apart, I’ve also noticed that there is a good amount of play between the hook and the race, to the point that I could actually take the hook out of the race without removing the U-shaped spring that screws to the back of the race. Not sure if this is normal or not. Any help would be appreciated. Also if y’all have a resource for where to get parts that fit how they are supposed to that would also be great.

thanks

Joey

Thats for sure is not normal. Imagine the hook falls out when sewing with full speed. Are you sure your shuttle race is complete? I´d check the parts list or compare with online offers.

Singer 31 shuttle race and hooks are fairly cheap. I´d probably buy them new.
