Casey Jordan Report post Posted January 16, 2009 (edited) Here's something you might be interested in if you make Saddles, spurs, Bits or Boots! I will attach a poster and rules. The applications can be downloaded from this website: www.roundupproductions.com We are already getting entries and it will be limited to the first 20 in each category, so don't wait! This is our first year for this but we plan on adding more categories next year. We are thinking maybe horsehair brading and or hitching, rawhide brading, hat making, engraving among other cowboy crafts. If you would be seriously interested in any of these please let me know so we get an idea of how much interest there is for a new category. The trophy buckles are being made by Silver King and I will post a picture of them as soon as they arrive within the next two weeks. If you have any questions just let me know. HorsehairBraider Report post Posted January 16, 2009 I'd like to hear how it goes... naturally I'd be interested in the braided horsehair category (that doesn't exist yet). Didn't they used to have a show like this? I think maybe it was called "Trappings" and was held in AZ somewhere. Flagstaff, maybe?
justken Report post Posted January 16, 2009 I'd also be interested in hitched horsehair category. Do you need to be there to inter?
Casey Jordan Report post Posted January 16, 2009 Horsehairbraider - I was never at the Trappings show in Flagstaff. I think it was more of a display and sell show and not a contest. If someone knows more about it, please correct me. justken - It would be in your best interest to be there, for a couple reasons. This contest is judged by the contestants. Each maker will get to vote for the top 4 places in their category. This year saddles makers will judge saddles & boots and vice-versa. Same for spur makers will judge spurs & bits and vice-versa. The "Peoples Chioce" will be judged by the general public coming to the show, they will get one vote in each category. And if you are there and someone sees your work and wants to talk to you about that peice or ordering something from you, you can visit with them about it. Thank both of you for your interest, if I receive enough interest in any category we will know which ones to add next time. Thanks, Casey
