Members sirmarcomoro Posted 14 hours ago Members Report Posted 14 hours ago Hi gentlefolks, Me and the missus have recently bought a used Stressless Recliner, Paloma leather, Vanilla colour. Personally more of a dark brown chair guy, so we decided to dye it. Except, we apparently decided to do it all wrong: we just rubbed with alcohol, applied Fiebing's Chocolate Leather Dye (not their Pro line) about three times, and then Fiebing's Resolene according to instructions, and as we were doing that last step we noticed green foam and that's where yours truly decided it was time to turn on his brain and do some research. The chair is now a shiny dark red colour that rubs off with any amount of moisture, and I couldn't be more stressed (oh, the irony) and unhappy. So, we want to give it our best shot and that's why I am here kneeling in front of your mighty collective wisdom, begging for instructions on how to do it right. I will have to remove the finish and at least some of the dye somehow (acetone? Fiebing's Deglazer?), and get some oil/alcohol based dark brown dye from a brand like Fiebing's or Angelus, and then I guess I can forego the finish (not a fan of glossy stuff)? Please, please help, it was used but still close to 1000 bucks, I really want it not to stain all my clothes. Quote
