Guest Vincent Posted April 1 Report Posted April 1 Hello, I have a question and I thank you in advance for your help. For some reason, in my country there is a shortage of Singer 211s, but there are many Singer 212s. My dilemma is this: I need an industrial straight-stitch machine, and the 211 is excellent, but its price is exorbitant. The 212s, on the other hand, are much cheaper. The problem is that the 212 is a double-needle machine, and I only need one needle. Is it possible to buy the 212 and use only one needle instead of two? Will it be damaged if I use only one needle? Does it sew the same with one needle as with two? Thank you very much. Quote
AlZilla Posted April 1 Report Posted April 1 Hi Vincent, I won't say for certain because there's much I don't know. However, I'd see no reason why not. I have a much older 22W156 twin needle that came to me with one needle and I've sewn with it that way. In my case, the second hook was disabled by adjusting the gears apart. Wait for one of the big dogs to chime in. There may be some downside I don't know about. Also, why not sign up for an account? It'll make communicating, getting notices of replies and so on much easier. Welcome aboard. Quote
