Sanded the edges upto 1000 grit. Shall I apply Tokonole now? That looks great! It would be time for tokonole or gum trag, or you could go with Nigel’s method, which he swears is not licking it off-camera before slicking. (It does work, though… 😉) -AZR Quote

(It does work, though… 😉) If you want that spit-slicked look without the spit, go to your local homebrew shop and grab a package of Amylase Enzyme. Dissolve a little in some water and use it to slick your edges. Amylase is the enzyme in saliva that breaks down starch. 3 hours ago, veesee said: Ok, so this is how it looks like in the end. wizard of tragacanth Posted yesterday at 01:28 AM Report Posted yesterday at 01:28 AM (edited) I agree veesee, it does look better but I have to be honest and say that with more practice, you can get better. There are gaps or voids between the layers in some places. I am not sure what is creating this. It could be the type of glue that you are using, not using enough glue or not applying enough pressure after gluing... I'm just not sure. It could be the leather itself. I have had crumbly leather that looked like that. You are at least half-way there. Glad to see your effort. It's definitely an improvement. What type of glue are you using? I messed up a little here. I skived the edges of the yellow middle layers at a very sharp angle, and didn't use enough glue. So, they were splitting a little after stitching. Then I filled that with some extra glue hoping they would stick now, but they didn't. Next time, I will pay more attention to the skiving angle. I am struggling to sharpen my French style 12mm skiver. Once I figure it out, I guess I will practice some more. Edited 12 hours ago by veesee Quote
