Hi there :)

I'm looking to start braiding dog collars but I really need to learn how to do some basic braiding tasks before I do those. I've done a few practise pieces and always get to the end thinking, "Now what do I do with all these loose ends?" Can you help me tidy them up? :helpsmilie:

I really need to learn how to properly start off and perhaps more importantly how to finish off a braid. I'm looking at 6-strand braids right now, any suggestions? Can you point me to some online tutorials?

Google for kingsmere. Should take you right to a very appreciated online tutorial. Lots of stuff there.

I prefer this site and have it marked on my favorites. http://www.taylortel.net/~stwood/index.html

Truth be told Gail Hought's first book is just loaded with information on braiding. In my opinion it far surpasses the one Grant's book that I do have. It's so much easier to follow, in fact I just ordered her 2nd book. She doesn't go into how to do a turn back to much in her first book, and that's something you will need to work toward perfecting if you are going to do K-9 equipment, but that's all that's missing if you want to braid collars. Someone asked about turn backs not long ago and I posted some instructions that my mentor posted for me when I was learning how to do them.

Thanks for that :) I actually managed to tie my first turkshead after reading that (a 5x3, the simplest I could lol). Also lead me to the Knot Heads Worldwide forum http://www.khww.net which has some great tutorials and videos :)
