Kustomizer Report post Posted February 8, 2009 (edited) I'm about to tackle my first solo seat and was wondering how you finish the Mexican Basketweave on a solo seat? I have the stitching book from Tandy Leather and it seems confusing and almost impossible to finish it the way they say in that little book. Any pics or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks. The way I did it was to totally ignore the pictures, and let the words sink in, which is weird, because I usually get pictures faster. I think I get the path, but what I have questions about is the part that says "Lace through the third slit, pushing the lace up between the leathers", I don't see how I can go through only one piece of leather and turn it out between the two pieces of leather because they are so close together. Try taking your modeling awl and slide it between the layers from the top on your last hole. It'll open the leather up and make it easier to push the needle through.
