Members scottishshoemaker Posted February 12, 2009 Members Report Posted February 12, 2009 Just arrived today 3oz tooling leather 22 sq ft, basic 7 piece stamp set and swivel knife, any suggestions what my first project should be. What do I put under leather when tooling? Also Al Stohlmans How to carve leather book all from Tandy. Quote You Want It, I'll Make It!

You can get them from Tandy, but it's cheaper by far to go to a local monument maker or custom counter shop and see if they have any broken pieces you can have for free or for cheap. Quote
Hilly Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Hi! 3 oz tooling leather is pretty light. Be careful when carving/tooling that you don't cut right through your leather, or you could learn to use bad words. Quote
