Members NuVikingKnives Posted March 26, 2009 Members Report Posted March 26, 2009 I am back to doing a bit of leather braiding again. I use to make the odd whip from time to time but I have to admit I didnt know entirely what I was doing then. Not that I kmnow that much more know but wiht having the internet handy I have learned what some of my mistakes were in teh past. Anyhow here is stock whip with a bamboo handle. It has a nice crack to it Louder than a 22 but not as loud as a .32 pistol. The core is braided with brown suede from an 8 plait down to a 6, finishing off with a square 4 where teh follower and cracker is attached. The core and part of the handle are stiffened up with a 8 plait black leather. A nice 8 foot total leangth. I need more practice for accuracy but it is fairly live. This next one is a real neo tribal mix. No exact pattern or style. just using up some remenants. Not as nice of a pop. sounds like a .22 short I am not sure but I have a feeling teh flat braid took some of the life away from teh cracker but it looks neet hanging on the wall. Hope you like half as much as I enjoyed making them. I got a couple more on teh go right now but some knife making projects are calling me. Cheers for now. Quote
