I asked this awhile ago but got no response. I have edgers in #'s 1,2,3,4. If the intent is to knock the shoulders off the leather before burnishing then wouldn't a 1 or 2 work for anything under say, 10/12 oz?

I know this is probably stupid from someone who has been doing this for a number of years but I love to hear from someone else.

Pete,

It all depends on the edge you prefer. Some guys like a square edge with the corners rounded off. Others like the edge in a full arc like a half round.

I have a 2 and 3. I use the 2 for almost anything like wallets and such (thinner weights like 4/5); and the 3 for 6/7 oz and up. That's me.
