Homebrew Stitch Hole Punch

A friend gave me a press and it sat around. After hammering holes with a saddle maker's punch I finally figured to put the punch in the press and it works GREAT!! The wood block makes the surface grip a bit, and keeps the bit from bashing into the metal plate.

nearly the same I also do. I just put an older head of a stitiching awl in my press an it works perfectly. I had the problem, when I tried to stitch a handle for my cue cases (10-12 oz of leather) that the holes were not really in one line on the upper and down side.

I tested it and it works good. So no need for me to buy a Tippmann Boss at this time

I to use a simular set up. I chuck what looks like a stitching awl without a handle in the drill press. then I can sit there on a tall chair with the drill press running, punching holes like mad, touching the awl every now and them with some wax.
