I purchased an original Bruce Nelson holster and magazine pouch. They are both well worn and in some spots worn through the original dye/finish. I would like to return the gear to an evenly dyed and finished condition.

Could you fine folks give me some tips on doing this without unduly drying or stretching the leather. Not sure what to use to remove the remnants of the original finish. The color is black so I'm hoping this will simplify things.

If you know of someone qualified to do this I would sure appreciate their contact info.

Thanks in advance, Ray

FERRETRAY. WORN SPOTS WILL BE WORN SPOTS.

this has worked for me. clean the worn spots, apply black dye

to the spots

then black shoe wax

then apply a finish coat of neutral shoe polish wax.

hope this helps.

Thanks Luke, I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

I'll probably remove the old finish with acetone or alcohol. I'd like to recondition the leather before/during the dyeing/finishing process.

Anyone know of a conditioner I can apply to the leather (It will be very dry after the finish removal) that will allow the leather to accept dye?
