Members Pauldoe Posted June 20, 2009 Members Report Posted June 20, 2009 (edited) Hi all: I just purchased this 1904 McClellan saddle - is it an artillery model? I see it has D-rings on the cantle and pommel. They seem pretty small for connecting to tack for a train of artillery horses. Thanks, P. Edited June 20, 2009 by Pauldoe Quote
Members Echo4V Posted June 22, 2009 Members Report Posted June 22, 2009 You can tell from photos. This one is an artillery saddle. The difference between the two is that an artillery saddle has that d ring in the center (front and back ) of the saddle. That d ring was used to attach the Y strap that hooked to the artillery piece for hauling it around. Hope this helps David Quote
