Improving the stitching pony

Hey guys just thought I would share what I did to my stitching pony. Im sure its been done before but oh well.

The standard tandy stitching pony which is a very big pain in the butt IMHO to use.

First took off the little wing nut. I left the bolt going thru the clamps but put a nut on the inside to keep it steady. Not sure if you need to leave it in there but I figured it would help keep them aligned. You could probably remove it.

Then I covered the ends in leather and tacked them inplace. Other wise youll scratch up your work or leave marks.

I use that about 3 or 4" down from the top and I put the handle portion pointing toward me so that it doesnt catch the string or lace.

There you have it. Sorry no pictures as I am without a camera right now. This atleast for me greatly improves the usability of the little stitching pony. Now I can sit back in my chair and stitch away.

Nice. I bought one of those to clamp my dremel down for my modified Weaver edging system that Hidepounder showed us. (No LEO pun intended)

Anyways, great idea and they are affordable too!
