Members VonFuct Posted August 8, 2009 Members Report Posted August 8, 2009 Well, here's my second wallet I've done. The first was a bi-fold for a friend, this one is a "biker" for me. Whatcha think? Contributing Member TwinOaks Posted August 8, 2009 Contributing Member Report Posted August 8, 2009 Very nicely done, it'll be a hit with the skull crowd. Timd Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 Y'know, guys like you really tick me off. Second wallet my a$$! Seriously though, that is one sweet wallet. Quote
TomSwede Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 Very cool wallet VonFuct!!! I especially like that it is a borderless design, the stitching is enough to keep the composition together . Very nice work!! Tom Quote Confucius - Better a diamond with a flaw than a pebble without. --------------------------------------------- www.1eye1.se blogg.1eye1.se
Members VonFuct Posted August 8, 2009 Author Members Report Posted August 8, 2009 Thanks a lot! And to be fair, Timd1159, it's not my second project, just my second wallet. It's probably about my fifth or sixth project since I started doing leatherwork. ;o) And Tom, yeah, I was going for something a little different than what I've seen in the past. It seems most are bordered in some way so I wanted to try a three sided bleed. Glad you liked it! TwinOaks, there's a "skull crowd"? Contributing Member TwinOaks Posted August 8, 2009 Contributing Member Report Posted August 8, 2009 Most certainly! There's a small group here that incorporate skull designs into a lot of their work, some of it steampunk, some biker, some .....other. And it isn't all carved either- just search for "skulls", and include the quotes. Quote Mike DeLoach Esse Quam Videri (Be rather than Seem) "Don't learn the tricks of the trade.....Learn the trade." Yeah, I been nagging alot about bordering and think most times it is needed but there are allways that exception that confirms the rule as well and not to forget everyone has their personal pref wich is fine by me. I picked up my way of thinking image/tooling/designing from a photographers point of view. The skull crew is a little inofficial bunch of members and whenever you post your first skull it seems like there is allways someone welcoming you to the "gang". Hmmm.. maybe we should have a subforum for skullfreaks;-) Tom Quote Confucius - Better a diamond with a flaw than a pebble without. --------------------------------------------- www.1eye1.se blogg.1eye1.se
Members LAROC Posted August 9, 2009 Members Report Posted August 9, 2009 Really like the lettering with the graphics moving from one side to the next. I'm going to have to try something like this in the future. Quote
Members VonFuct Posted August 9, 2009 Author Members Report Posted August 9, 2009 Yeah, I can understand that Tom. I'm coming at it from an art director/graphic artist point of view with a heavy dose of tattoo influence. The way I see it, just do what the piece/art wants to do, don't fight it and have fun with it. Oh, and I guess I AM one of the skull crew, I just thought about it and out of the seven leather projects I've done so far, five had had skulls in them! I've discovered that my graphic design background really comes across in my leather designs. David Quote
