UKRay Report post Posted August 17, 2009 Is it a Jiffy snap?If not what is it called? Thanks It looks like an older kind of 'durable dot' fastening similar to those used on boat covers... but what do I know? Ray

JerryLevine Report post Posted August 18, 2009 Is it a Jiffy snap?If not what is it called? Thanks I assume that if you're calling this a snap, its closing a flap rather than fixing the two bits of leather together. If this is a snap as opposed to a rivet, there should be some more 'male' and 'female' bits visible. Any chance of posting pictures of the other bits? Then we could try to tell whether it is magnetic, uses a round spring or an 's' spring, etc, etc and hopefully at least narrow the field for you. Big Papa Leather Report post Posted August 19, 2009 That is the only photo I have. It is without a doubt a snap. It appears to be a round outer receiver and a dot/post that fits in the middle of the reciever. I assume it has some sort of spring that hold it in place just as a line snap would. ShirleyT Report post Posted August 28, 2009 It could be a "Lift the Dot" Fastener commonly found on boats. Try: http://www.sailrite.com/Categories/Lift-The-Dot-Fasteners
