Craft Japan

Recommended Posts

I just recieved my new Craft Japan tools I ordered from S&D Trading co. They leave a much nicer impression than the craftools that I have. I will definately be replacing my tool collection little by little. I recommend to anybody that has craftools to try these Craft Japan tools.

I'll second what dustin said. The Japanese tools I have are definitely nicer than the Taiwanese/Chinese versions. I believe Hidecrafter sells them as well as Springfield Leather, but you'd have to check to be sure.

This is going to sound really dense but I could only find Craft tools and the HideCrafter "Pro Crafter's" tools. What are these Craft Japan tools? Can you post a link?

The ProCrafter's Tools are the Craft Japan Tools. Some that I ordered say "Craft Japan" and some say "HideCrafter Japan".

Ah yes, Thanks! I have some of those ProCrafter's and they are really nice. I like the meander border tool and the basketweaves. I have used the heck out of the Pebblers too. I know you are going to say I wallop them too hard, but I don't, one of my basketweaves shaft started to bend and the same deal with a friends too. But that doesn't change how nice the defined stamp is.

Maybe you dont know your own strength, LOL. I bought a couple of the geometric stamps and they leave a very nice crisp impression. I especially like the tri-weave. Talk to ya later.

I like the Craft Japan tools I have also. The ones I have are chrome plated, and do make a nice impression. They are way different than the HideCrafter protools I have/used to have. The SS Pro tools I have are fine. I had poor luck with the dark finish HideCrafter stamps. I got a free one from LCSJ, then bought several more based on impressions. When I went to use them, I did have some bend. A buddy gave me some because he had the same experience and was not going to chance it. I had more bend and a couple totally break, one ended up cutting a finger when it let go. I wasn't whacking on them with anything but a 16 oz maul. They ended up and made it sort of right with me after a few phone calls.

We talked about "sleeving" the shafts with stainless tubing but haven't taken that step yet. Hearing that some have broken I may want to move that closer to the top of my to do list.

Yeah all of those stamp really nice and crisp. I wish they would make a nice ram's head stamp.
