tnestes Report post Posted August 21, 2009 I was recently caught in a rain shower while riding a saddle with a Fiebings antique finish. "SPOTS" from the rain droplets stained the seat while taking the saddle off. Any suggestions on how to remedy this? I know now why some saddlers don't antique. RWB Report post Posted August 21, 2009 Tan-kote will water spot. Use Neat-lac (if you can find any), or Clearlac as your to coat. If rubbed in well when applied they both give a very nice satin top finish. Ross

saddles Report post Posted August 21, 2009 I have a question. Will the Neat-lac or Clearlac turn grey after awhile? I've cleaned several that have this dirty, grey look to them that can not be cleaned unless you remove the finish. Is this another product?

I've never had that problem on anything I've ever antiqued, and use that as a finish on pretty much everything I stamp. But thats not to say it can't happen.
