pirogue Report post Posted September 28, 2009 I have looked back at a lot of old posts on cleaning and restoring old saddles, but did'nt see any advice for removing the mold/mildew smell in the woolskin on the saddle underside. It is not that dirty, just smelly. Would like to display in house. Any advice? Thanks.
steadybrook Report post Posted September 28, 2009 Use a small portable steam/vacuum cleaner.
Saddlebag Report post Posted September 30, 2009 I've sprayed 50-50 vinegar water on the wool and rubbed it in with my hands and let dry. Sometimes a second application is necessary. This also removed wood smoke odor from the fleece. When dry I'll give it a good vacuuming.

(That's assuming that there IS no mold/mildew- just the smell) russ
Saddlebag Report post Posted October 5, 2009 The vinegar mix kills mildew. Does Febreeze?
