Members yldbill Posted October 15, 2009 Members Report Posted October 15, 2009 I recently soaked some belt blanks in water prior to stamping them. When they dried ,they had a white-ish haze on the surface. Iapplied neatsfoot oil but after it dried all night the haze came back. Could this be due to the fact that I used soft water? I never had this happen before and I recently had my soft water system serviced. Quote
dirtclod Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 They put salt in a soft water don't they ? It might be salt from the water. I've doing leather work for over 20 years and i have never soaked a belt or anything else i was going to stamp. When ever i stamp a belt and most other thing i make i just spray them with water let dry a few minutes and go to work. Never have had a problem doing it that way. Quote
