Members ToddB 68 Posted October 16, 2009 Members Report Posted October 16, 2009 (edited) Greetings ! I requested a Tandy catalog on their website and am anxiously awaiting it's arrival. Being a beginner at leather work, I am naturally interested in learning about the different hand tools, the intended purpose of each and how it should be used. Does the Tandy catalog give descriptive information of this type ? Or would I be better off buying a book ? If so, can anyone recommend a good one ? Thanks, Todd Edited October 16, 2009 by ToddB68 Quote
Leather Bum Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 I think the Al Stohlman book, "Leathercraft Tools" would be just what you're looking for. And it looks like Springfield Leather sells it retail for about the same price as TLF's wholesale. . . Micah Quote
Members rickeyfro Posted October 16, 2009 Members Report Posted October 16, 2009 I remember that innocent curiosity, the excitement of going to the mailbox in hopes that today would be the day that my newest addition would be arriving. The amazement at how much easier a given task was with the mastering of every new contraption that found its place hanging above my bench. When did it all change? Where did it go so horribly wrong? Was it after I realized that I'd finally aquired one of each, or the panic that followed that realization, wondering what would I spend all my hard earned money on now, or was it the blissful calm that followed the panic when shining through the dark came that word "upgrade" Quote
Members Geo4x4 Posted October 21, 2009 Members Report Posted October 21, 2009 The catalog will give you almost the exact same thing you see on the Tandy site...just in catalog format No, it will not describe the use/abuse of the tools but it is still a good resource to have on hand. While you are waiting for the catalog, head down to your local library and see what they have. If they don't have what you are looking for, ask them to get it on interlibrary loan. This way, you can check out a book and see if it meets your needs before you buy it. Quote
