Members tande Posted November 11, 2009 Members Report Posted November 11, 2009 I am just finishing my first pair of chinks. I am trying to get the leg connectors figured out. I finished them riveting the straps to the inside, but when I wore them there was too much bunched up under my leg. I saw a pair the other day that had 3 holes punched in a triangle shape and then the strap was laced through them and adjustable. Does anyone do this or saw it done? It looks like it would work to me, but i was jsut curious how big of hole to punch or any other tips that would help. If you have a better idea I would like to know. Thanks, Trent Quote
Members mulefool Posted November 12, 2009 Members Report Posted November 12, 2009 I do that on armitas when I use the leather button for the closure, but the strap is only about 3/16" wide and I use a #9 oval punch. I'm assuming you are using a snap and maybe a 5/8" size? I usually do a buckle and billet and on the leg where the buckle goes I punch a bag punch slot into the top of the reinforcement. Then I slide the end of the buckle tab into that slot so that it is sandwiched between the top piece of the leg and the reinforcement overlay. If I use a snap then I slide the end of the strap in that slot and sew it. Around the snap I use a half hitch so that is how it is adjustable. Hope that made sense.
