I made others for friend over the past few weeks. By Nov 25. I was back at Tandy buying the basic seven tooling kit. Over the weekend I tooled 4 (3X3") tattoo style designs and you can definatly tell i'm improving. So another exited newbe here, Maybe with a little more prctice I may start hacking on a extra seat I have laying around. Till next time. PS How do most of you offset the expence. Ther eare so many tools and leather isnt cheap. Quote

Members Vikti Posted December 1, 2009 Members Report Posted December 1, 2009 Hi from Cleburne. Everything you posted is looking good, keep it up, Conrad. I would suggest that for practice you should go through the remnant bins at Tandy and Hidecrafter, you can get some pretty decent practice size pieces for next to nothing. Last time I went to Hidecrafter I got a bag of scraps that yielded enough good pieces to make 2 cell phone cases and a zippo case that I'm currently working on when work lets me have the time. Take care Quote

Members Hawgman Posted December 2, 2009 Members Report Posted December 2, 2009 Hey T welcome to LW.net. This is the place to learn all there is to learn about leather. Let me make one suggestion. Find someone in your area that is an accomplished leather worker and get some one on one with them and your work will take off like you never imagined. You will be amazed how fast you will imprive with a little help to point you in the right direction. Keep up the good work. Quote
TimKleffner Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 TC Welcome to the site. Hawgman 's on the mark, there's bunches of really good leather folks up that part of the country to learn from. Have you stopped by HideCrafter Leather yet? Saturday mornings they have open tooling. The LoneStar Leather Guild pres David Smith is there to help. Happy tooling Tim Quote
