My attempt at Lobo's Avenger

Recommended Posts

So I was going camping this past weekend and wanted to take my Sig P6, but did not have a holster for it, so I whipped this one out last wednesday and thursday nights so I could have it for friday night. I wanted to try something with a welt (never done one before) and really liked Lobo's design, so I thought I'd give it a try. I think this one is my best holster so far, I've made 6 I think. I know the edges are not done properly as I was in a hurry and it was for me, not for someone else. I have a guy in my office that is wanting me to make him one the same design for his G23 (which oddly fits almost exactly in this one save for the sweat shield....so what should I work on improving for his (other than the obvious edges)?

sorry for the crappy cell phone pics....and also note, I like my holsters to look old, so I used what some would consider a "scrap" piece, because it has some defects and creaces in it, and I dye it by hand with a rag so there are some uneven spots, same with the Neatsfoot oil I put on it.

I am flattered that you have found my welted-seam application to the Avenger-style worthy of your efforts. Your adaptation of the slide shield is very nicely done. That option has been requested for this style and I will have to come up with something along the same lines to meet customer requirements.

Attached are photos of one of my Enhanced Avenger-style holsters that I recently shipped for the Sig P6, with holster mouth reinforcement band, in cordovan brown finish. Not trying to hijack your thread here, just adding something for comparison.

Best regards.

No hi-jack at all, thanks for posting pics of your P6 holster! One thing I really liked about this design which I think you or someone else in one of your threads pointed out that this design with the tunnel on the rear allows your belt to go right back into position just as tight as before, as opposed to a standard pancake that you have to loosen your belt....I found this to be true and it was very comfortable all weekend.

Thanks,

Justin

Nice job, Justin.

Thanks, you do some great work, so that makes me feel good about it. I do think that on the next one for my co-worker, I am going to cut the edge under the grip at more of a curve instead of a diagonal line to increase clearance for the grip...I can get a full grip on it, but some others on another forum I posted pics on said it looked close....so maybe I'll curve it like on the photo Lobo attached.

Thanks,

Justin
